Event Branding with Type

Retrograde Rave Festival

In my advanced typography class, I created experimental event branding for a fictional rave called 'Retrograde', inspired by 90s DIY rave posters and hybrid compositions drawn from an ambiguous text. The final deliverables included a poster, invitation flyers, wristbands, and a custom box. I included my own photography mixed with online stock images.

BRIEF ─ 01

Create event branding based on hybrid compositions and ambiguous themes derived from a paragraph of text, with an experimental approach.

CHALLENGE ─ 02

The obstacle I had was combining all my previous compositions into one final poster. The poster had to be strong enough to lend into additional branding assets that I would develop.

SOLUTION ─ 03

Designed a visual identity inspired by 90s DIY rave posters, resulting in a bold, experimental poster. The branding package included invitation flyers, wristbands, and a custom box.
